Our approach to Earth Day is grounded in two core ideas: taking meaningful internal action, and supporting high-impact external partners who are driving change on a global scale.
Building on Last Year’s Sustainability Wins
Over the past year, our teams have shown what’s possible when sustainability becomes part of everyday decision-making. Two initiatives stand out:
- A successful recycling program: As highlighted in our blog post, “North Sustainability Stories: A Successful Recycling Program,” our team members in Ireland helped transform how we handle waste in our offices. By improving sorting, increasing access to recycling stations, and educating one another, we significantly reduced what we send to landfill. Just as importantly, the program built a culture of ownership—people now think twice before throwing something away.
- Ditching the foam: In “North Sustainability Stories: Ditching the Foam,” we shared how we eliminated foam products from our packaging, replacing them with more sustainable alternatives. Foam is notoriously difficult to recycle and often ends up polluting land and waterways. Moving away from it required coordination with suppliers, facilities teams, and ech other—but the result is a tangible reduction in our environmental footprint.
These successes are proof that when sustainability is everyone’s job, progress accelerates.
Supporting Trusted Environmental Organizations
This Earth Day, North is also proud to externally support organizations that are leading global environmental efforts, aligning with our values of transparency and inclusion.
- Earth Day Network: We’re contributing to Earth Day Network, which carries a 96% rating on Charity Navigator. That rating reflects high accountability and transparency, both critical factors in ensuring our contribution is used effectively. Earth Day Network works worldwide on climate literacy, environmental policy, and community action, amplifying the kinds of changes we strive to make within our own walls.
- Friends of the Earth: We are also supporting Friends of the Earth, an organization with a strong international presence and active chapters in Ireland. This partnership allows us to include our Ireland team members more directly in our corporate social responsibility efforts. By choosing a group with deep roots in the communities where our people live and work, we connect our global strategy with local impact.
People-Powered Sustainability at North
At the center of all of this is our belief that sustainability is about people; how we work, what we prioritize, and the culture we create together.
