Point & Pay and Opal Data Technologies Improve Electronic Tax Payments for RI's Local Government Agencies

November 16, 2010

TROY, Mich.Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Point and Pay, a wholly-owned subsidiary of North American Bancard, today announced a partnership with Opal Data Technologies.  The agreement links Point & Pay, a leading provider of electronic payment processing for U.S. government agencies, with Opal, the largest provider of financial software and services to Rhode Island municipalities.

Point & Pay's new partnership enables full integration of the company's electronic payment solutions with Opal's tax administration, tax collection, permitting, utility billing and records management software.  Together, the systems enable Rhode Island citizens to pay local government taxes and fees online, over the phone, or in a government office by using a MasterCard® or VISA® credit or debit card.

As a result of Point & Pay's new partnership with Opal, 32 Rhode Island municipalities and fire districts, including CoventryWesterlyWest Warwick and Woonsocket, have signed agreements to participate in the Point & Pay program, with more scheduled to follow.

"Our relationship with Opal delivers fresh opportunities to provide our modern, elegant systems to more of Rhode Island's governmental agencies, as well as in the surrounding New England states," said Kevin Connell, president of Point & Pay. "The partnership is part of our strategy to expand Point & Pay's business by aligning our best-in-class payment processing systems with established software providers within local markets."

"By working together, Point & Pay and Opal streamline both the tax payment process for citizens and the tax accounting process for municipal employees," says Peter DiCicco, president of Opal Data Technologies.  "Our customers and clients find that our combined systems are efficient, accurate, convenient and secure."
